Lakshya
Today, I have loads of free time but the feel of writing is not present. There is a song playing on my system while I am typing this. Its “Lakshya” from the movie by the same name. So, its song review day
. We call Schindler’s List & Shawshank Redemption as epics in film industry but fail to acknowledge the masterpieces of our local heroes, like this movie. So, here you go with my first song review, a song from my fav movie:
Lakshya (Eng: Ambition)
As a helicopter is getting ready to take off, a spoilt urban brat is re-beginning his curriculum at the IMA, a dream academy of almost every Indian, an institution looked upon by many as the epitome of discipline. This is the college from where the world’s 2nd largest Army gets it Officers. From our perspective, of the movie & song, this college plays a very small role.
So lets come back to the urban brat. He is not a bad guy, just an over fed and pampered son of a rich guy, and ppl like him are very common nowadays. The problem with this chap is that he is not very serious about anything at all, discreet to be very precise. He likes a lot of things and has great friends but the feel of career is not there,he lacks ambition. In contrast, he has a girlfriend who is obsessed with what ever she likes and pretty adamant about it. This girl is also not of great significance except for the fact that she insults his ego. The protagonist, lets call him A, has a friend who is applying to IMA, and A jumps in too. He applies and surprisingly gets through the test. Like in any family in India, where parents believe that the only correct thing for the son to do is earn a lot of money, A’s parents opposed and this guy got the better out of his parents and joins the Army.
But the problem here is that he has had no discipline in his life so far, so the strict military routine scares our Mr. A so much so that he runs away back home. There comes the turning point in the movie where his girl friend insults him and with a wounded ego, A returns back to the academy to restart but faces a tougher task trying to tackle the training. The song features A restarting his training:
Music & Lyrics :
Haan yehi rasta hai tera, tune ab jaana hai
Haan yehi rasta hai tera, tune ab jaana hai
Haan yehi sapna hai tera, tune pehchaana haiHaan yehi rasta hai tera, tune ab jaana hai
Haan yehi sapna hai tera, tune pehchaana hai
Tujhe ab ye dikhaana hai
Roke tujhko aandhiyaan, ya zameen aur aasmaan
Paayega jo lakshya hai tera
Lakshya toh har haal mein paana haiMushkil koyi, aajaaye toh, parbat koyi, takraaye toh
Taaqat koyi, dikhlaaye toh, toofaan koyi, mandlaaye toh
Mushkil koyi aajaaye toh, parbat koyi takraaye toh
Barse chaahe ambar se aag, lipte chaahe pairon se laakh -2
Paayega jo lakshya hai tera
Lakshya toh har haal mein paana haiHimmat se jo koyi chale, dharti hille qadmon tale
Kya dooriyaan kya faasle, manzil lage aake gale
Himmat se jo koyi chale, dharti hille qadmon tale
Tu chal yunhi ab sub-o-shaam, rukna, jhukna nahin tera kaam -2
Paayega jo lakshya hai tera
Lakshya toh har haal mein paana haiHaan yehi rasta hai tera, tune ab jaana hai
Haan yehi sapna hai tera, tune pehchaana hai
Tujhe ab ye dikhaana hai
This song is called inspirational by many but in my view, it is trying tell the listener that ‘Now I have a goal. I must get it no matter what’. Its a classic song from the best contemporary hindi movie, by the same name.
